To Apostrophe or Not to Apostrophe

NECN, a New England based news site, has a short segment on the growing disappearance of apostrophes from maps around the United States. With a focus on local names in Vermont, the piece looks at the growing trend of dropping apostrophes from place names.  Stephen Nissenbaum, a professor at the University of Massachusetts states the reason for the dropping of the apostrophes is a century long government effort at efficiency.
