The Geo of Google Searches for 2009

The Official Google Blog released some summary statistics relating to Google searches covering 2009.  The searches covered weekday U.S. based traffic and revealed that one out of every 13 Google result pages showed a map.  Other spatially related search trivia includes:

Average increase in driving distance on weekends vs. weekdays on Google Maps: 11km

Median distance from a user’s location to ice skating rinks found on Google Maps: 30km

Median distance from a user’s location to ski resorts found on Google Maps: 300km
