Shapefile Viewer for Data.gov

ESRI has a viewer that makes viewing shapefiles available from the Data.gov data warehouse a breeze.  Click on the Data.gov tab to browse through a list of available shapefiles.  Viewing the dataset is as simple as dragging the orange SHP icon to the Zip URL file text box and clicking on the “Display Shapefile” button.  The application quickly unzips the file and displays the data relatively quickly onto a base map of the United States.  The application itself provides simple pan, zoom and identify functions with a toggle option to turn on imagery.  There seems to be an unrelated function that allows users to type in their ZIP code to get legislator and district information.  (Seen via All Points Blog)
