The New York Times, always a creative leader in portraying complex information in unique graphics and maps, has a fantastic election map.  The application allows for three different ways to view data at both the state and county level.  Click on a state to zoom in to see greater detail of precincts reporting at the county level and play with the year slider to see how each state and county has voted since 1992.
