ESRI released a podcast with Jack Dangermond explaining why the release of the latest version of ArcGIS is considered a major release, hence the designation of ArcGIS 10.  More information on the upcoming release is available on ESRI’s “What’s Coming in ArcGIS 10″ page.  GeoChalkboard also has a guest article by Tripp Corbin explaining some of the changes.
